How to Upload Your Website Using cPanel File Manager
A complete beginner’s guide to uploading HTML, PHP, or WordPress files without needing FTP.
Introduction
If you have a website already designed and you want to put it online, the easiest way is through the File Manager inside cPanel. It allows you to upload files directly from your browser — without needing FTP or command-line skills.
Tip: This method is perfect for beginners, static sites, school projects, and migrating websites.
Where to Upload Your Files
In almost all shared hosting environments, your public website files must be placed in this folder:
/public_html
This is also known as your document root.
Step-by-Step Upload Guide
- Login to your Nairahost cPanel account.
- Scroll down to the Files section and click File Manager.
- Navigate to the public_html folder.
- Click the Upload button on the top menu.
- Select your files (or upload a .zip file for large projects).
- Return to File Manager and Refresh.
- If you uploaded a ZIP, select it > choose Extract.
⚠️ Do not upload your website inside a subfolder like public_html/mywebsite/ if you want it to open directly using your domain.
