Migration Checklist

Before you begin, make sure you have:

• Access to your old hosting control panel
• Backup or copy of website files
• Database backup if using WordPress or PHP apps
• Your domain login (registrar dashboard)
• Nameserver access

Step 1: Order Hosting on Nairahost

If your plan includes cPanel, you will get nameservers like:

ns1.nairahost.cloud
ns2.nairahost.cloud
    

If it’s a DirectAdmin plan:

ns1.nairahost.com.ng
ns2.nairahost.com.ng
    

Step 2: Backup Your Website from Old Hosting

For non-WordPress websites

1. Login to File Manager or FTP
2. Download all files from public_html
3. Export your database (if using MySQL) via phpMyAdmin

For WordPress:

1. Install a plugin like All-In-One Migration or Duplicator
2. Generate a backup
3. Download backup file

⚠️ Never migrate only public_html without moving the database! Your website will break.

Step 3: Upload Website to Nairahost

Login to your new hosting panel and do either:

• Use File Manager to upload your ZIP into public_html
• Or upload via FTP

Then:

• Create a new database in cPanel
• Import your SQL file via phpMyAdmin
• Edit configuration file to match new database credentials

Step 4: Update Nameservers

Login to your domain registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, or Nairahost if domain is registered here).

Change nameservers to:

For cPanel:

ns1.nairahost.cloud
ns2.nairahost.cloud

For DirectAdmin:

ns1.nairahost.com.ng
ns2.nairahost.com.ng

Step 5: Wait for DNS Propagation

This can take 30 minutes – 24 hours depending on your ISP.

Step 6: Test Your Website

• Open your domain in a private browser (Incognito)
• Click through all pages
• Test contact forms, emails, and admin login

When You Can Cancel Your Old Host

Only after ALL of these are working correctly:

• Website loads properly from Nairahost
• Emails fully working
• No missing files or broken links
• DNS fully propagated
