What Is Business Email and Why Does It Matter?

A business email is an email address that uses your own domain name, such as info@yourdomain.com or support@yourdomain.com, instead of free services like Gmail or Yahoo. It makes your brand look more professional and trustworthy, especially when dealing with clients, banks, or corporate organizations.

Example business email formats:

  • info@yourdomain.com – General inquiries
  • support@yourdomain.com – Customer care
  • sales@yourdomain.com – Sales and quotes
  • ceo@yourdomain.com – Personal executive email

Requirements Before You Start

  • You must have an active domain (e.g. yourdomain.com).
  • Your domain should point to your Nairahost hosting nameservers:
    • cPanel hosting: ns1.nairahost.cloud and ns2.nairahost.cloud
    • DirectAdmin hosting: ns1.nairahost.com.ng and ns2.nairahost.com.ng
  • You must have an active hosting account (shared, reseller, or similar).

Step 1: Log In to Your cPanel

After purchasing hosting from Nairahost, you will receive a welcome email with your cPanel login URL, username, and password. Use the login link in that email or log in via your Nairahost client area by clicking on your hosting service and selecting “Login to cPanel”.

Step 2: Go to the Email Accounts Section

  1. Inside cPanel, scroll down to the Email section.
  2. Click on Email Accounts.
  3. You will see any existing email accounts, and a button labeled Create.

Step 3: Create a New Business Email

  1. Click the Create button.
  2. Under “Domain”, choose the domain you want to use (if you have multiple domains).
  3. Enter your desired email username, for example:
    • info (this will become info@yourdomain.com)
    • support, sales, hello, etc.
  4. Set a strong password:
    • Use a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
    • Avoid easy words like your name or “password123”.
  5. Set the Storage Space limit:
    • “1 GB”, “2 GB”, or “Unlimited” depending on your hosting plan.
    • Larger mailboxes are better if you receive many attachments.
  6. Click Create to finish.

Step 4: Log In to Your New Email (Webmail)

To access your business email from any browser:

https://yourdomain.com/webmail

Then:

  1. Enter your full email address, for example info@yourdomain.com.
  2. Enter the password you created in cPanel.
  3. Click Log in.
  4. Select a webmail app (usually Roundcube).

You can now send, receive, and manage emails just like using Gmail or Yahoo.

Step 5: Test Sending and Receiving

  1. From your new email (webmail), send a test message to your personal Gmail/Yahoo.
  2. Check your Gmail/Yahoo inbox (and spam folder).
  3. Reply back to your business email from that Gmail/Yahoo account.
  4. Go back to webmail to confirm you received the reply.

Best Practices for Business Emails

  • Do not share your email password publicly or with strangers.
  • Enable strong passwords and change them if you suspect compromise.
  • Keep your mailbox under quota by deleting old or large emails.
  • Avoid sending spam or bulk unsolicited messages from your business email.

That’s it! You’ve successfully created a professional business email using Nairahost. You can now also connect this email to Gmail, Outlook, or your phone’s mail app for even easier access. See the next article in this category for how to do that.
